Poem I wrote for Truffles after her cancer diagnosis

Last Lamb

where my room once had noise it won't sound anymore
today still for now so much time not to think
the sound that she chose for you echoes and sinks
in the hole that you left on the cold bathroom floor

get up only using a look through a door
no space in a room so just leave it to shrink
then as it's below she won't mind if you blink
she'll meet you again where she couldn't before

you're waiting around here in two or three years
taking time while your wool fades to brown

tie another knot inside your right ear

for her to untie as the world's falling down

and you'll say the earth looks like a star from up here

I hope time lets you rest somewhere lown
